I emailed but I read calling works too. I just gave them my application number, told them how long I’ve waited and if they could please check on it.

I'm in the uk applied on the 23rd of November and my application is still pending approval. No update since the 26th.

Same here. Consider the approximate processing time of your embassy. Also consider if the embassy had days off, such as Christmas. You may find that not that many *working* days have actually passed.
