LTR retiree visa: hey all, we are coming as a family of three as our son will attend international school in Bangkok. We have the student/guardian visa option, but wanted to explore LTR so a couple of questions. 1. Is the US$80k requirement per person or in total for a family? For example, could I combine my investment income with my wife's to get $80k? Or would we need $160k+? 2. Are visa fees per person or total? 50k, 100k, or 150k for the three of us? In our circumstances, would it be best to use an agent (currently in Philippines). Thanks for any response.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The LTR retiree visa requires a passive income of $80,000 per annum per applying person, not combined. Therefore, for a family of three, one adult must qualify with $80,000. Visa fees are typically calculated per person, so you would need to consider separate fees for each family member considering the application. It's also noted that using a visa agent may be beneficial for navigating the process.

Keep in mind the guardian visa option will only cover one of you, not both parents for just one child.

Yes, the school was pushing the education / guardian visa for wife & child for initial entry, so investigating options for myself led me to the LTR idea. Might as well do all of us on the same visa, seems worth the cost in terms of immigration hassles alone

As I understand it one of you applies for the LTR and the others come as their dependants. The person applying would need to show a passive income, that is it needs to be withdrawn from investment, of $80k USD perv annum but drop the BOI an email and ask them, they are very responsive

Thanks, I didn't expect a government-related entity to be responsive, if so that's a pleasant surprise.
