Bank account question: I can see the benefit of having one account for extension of stay money and another for daily expenses. Comments as to whether it is preferable to have both accounts at the same bank or to have each at a different bank would be appreciated. TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether expats in Thailand should maintain both a bank account for visa extension funds and another for daily expenses at the same bank or different banks. Many participants recommend keeping the accounts at separate banks to spread risk, as Thai banks only guarantee deposits up to 1 million baht in case of financial issues. Others find it more convenient to have both accounts within the same bank for ease of transactions and statements.
Never put all your eggs in the same basket. Take two banks!

I have a Bangkok Bank account I do my daily business out of and a KBank account I keep my 800,000 baht in.

I have a “fixed account” that is my 800K and I never touch it. Once a year when I get my letters for immigration I take some of the earned interest out for my “same day transaction”.
Then I have a standard debit card account with the same bank. For me it’s just really easy this way.
When I go ask for 3 months statements for immigration it’s maybe

Just something to think about a thai bank will.only guarantee 1 million baht if the bank is in trouble so if you plan on having more than that in your account I would have 2 different accounts at 2 different banks
