Bank account question: I can see the benefit of having one account for extension of stay money and another for daily expenses. Comments as to whether it is preferable to have both accounts at the same bank or to have each at a different bank would be appreciated. TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats opt to maintain separate bank accounts in Thailand for different purposes: one account for the 800,000 baht required for visa extensions and another for daily transactions. Most commenters suggest that having both accounts at the same bank simplifies management and documentation for immigration purposes, although some caution against exceeding insurance limits by recommending accounts at different banks for added safety. Overall, experiences reflect both successful strategies, with no significant issues reported.
If possible different Banks since the insurance is 1 MTB and 800k is a big part of that...

Never put all your eggs in the same basket. Take two banks!

I have a Bangkok Bank account I do my daily business out of and a KBank account I keep my 800,000 baht in.

I have a “fixed account” that is my 800K and I never touch it. Once a year when I get my letters for immigration I take some of the earned interest out for my “same day transaction”.
Then I have a standard debit card account with the same bank. For me it’s just really easy this way.
When I go ask for 3 months statements for immigration it’s maybe

Just something to think about a thai bank will.only guarantee 1 million baht if the bank is in trouble so if you plan on having more than that in your account I would have 2 different accounts at 2 different banks
