How long does it take for a pending visa application to be approved at the Sydney embassy?

Pending approval does not mean you will be approved, it does not even mean your visa has been assessed. What it means is you have passed the document check. The first step in DTV processing is an admin clerk will look at your documentation. Have you provided what is required? Is there any errors? They have no authority to issue or deny a visa. If they are satisfied that you have provided the proper documentation it gets set to pending approval and assigned to a consular officer to consider. Sydney is very busy and I was told this, Visa applications are prioritised based on the expected date of travel not on the date received. Two people who apply on the same day, if their travel dates are months apart, then so may be their approval. When you will get a yes and know will depend on the expected date of travel you provided.

Just did it, through the Sydney consulate and went to ‘pending approval’ Monday 15th June and was approved 22nd June and I flew out 24th June, this was for Non OA visa.

Mine from Australia was 3 days

My husband and son were on pending approval for 6 weeks before it was approved. Im in NY embassy

Anywhere from 1 day to one month. Pending approval just means the initial document check is complete. There are people who go from pending approval back to the previous step when something is discovered later. There's nothing that says any step takes any amount of time.
