TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the process of buying a car in Thailand on a marriage visa, specifically regarding insurance, registration, and necessity of addresses on documentation. Users emphasize a few important points: insurance is typically vehicle-based in Thailand, you may need a residence certificate for registration at the Department of Land Transport (DLT), and if married to a Thai, your spouse can assist you with the process.
Why ask this cage stuff when you have Thai wife right with you? It’s her country and she has no idea ? Or can’t ask? Old man needs mommy to take him to buy a car . Wow
If married to a Thai just ho and do insurance like anywhere in the world. We bought a new car, 4 years ago stayed with same insurance hand over my Thai license they do the rest 30 minutes later we walk out and of course with the two chilly bins as a thank you from the insurance company.
In Thailand it's often the car itself that's insured rather than the driver, something you need to check. You will need to get a residence certificate from immigration and go to your local DLT office to register the car in your name. If buying new the dealership usually takes care of it all.
