Or how do you think the biggest Harley Davidson factory on the planet is in Thailand? Because all share holders have a Thai Visa? I do not think so.
if your staff are Thai, they don't need a visa. However YOU as a foreigner need a visa in order to ENTER Thailand. Depending on the visa-type, you will receive a STAY PERMIT. This stay permit can be 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or even one year - depending on the visa type. . . if you intend to work as a chef in your restaurant, you will need some documentation from your company/restaurant, and with these documentation you can apply for a 90-days Non-Imm-B visa in one of Thailand's neighbour countries. Once you enter Thailand with this visa, you need to visit the Labour Department and apply for a work permit so you can hang around in your restaurant (NOTICE: you are NOT allowed to do "hands-on" in your own restaurant, you can just stand there and watch your Thai staff work) Alternatively, you can enter visa-exempt, receive a 60-days stay permit, visit Immigration and apply for the "change of visa type" from an exempt entry to a 90-days Non-imm-B visa. And before the 90 days are over, you apply for the "one-year extension of stay permit based on employment".
That is half correct. Since COVID you can apply inside of the country. And you can do normal restaurant work since 10 years ... the times where the owner of the restaurant can not open a beer and give it to a guest is over since ages.

I have a company and soon a work permit. So: under the new rules, which are decades old: I can nearly do what ever I want. Except prohibited jobs. And opening a beer bottle is not a prohibited job. But no worries, I do not run a restaurant.

you will soon find out that opening a beer bottle for a guest in "your" 49% owned restaurant, is a prohibited job. And after this realization, you will have fun in the International Detention Center, one can meet interesting people there

My friend owns a business in Thailand. All legal (49% and 51% Thai owned). He doesn't live here, but comes maybe 2 or 3 times a year on a business visa. He has about 10 Thai staff (1 is his business partner) working in the company All perfectly legal.
So try a business via if you don't intend to live here.

If your restaurant is a registered business (2 million paid-up capital) in Thailand, speak with a lawyer. You can apply 1 work visa for a foreigner when you hire 4 Thais.

If you've already opened the restaurant, I recommend you not to post about it online and instead hire an agent to arrange your visas ASAP, quietly.
Also note, you will need 4 Thai staff for each 1 foreign staff and there are various other restrictions that make it difficult to staff a restaurant with foreigners.

For that you do not need a visa either. HINT: you get a business visa AFTER you have showed you have the relevant insurance. AND you get the bank account for the company opened: when you have a company. AND not when you have a visa.

thats what accountants and lawyers are for and you would only be able to own as a foriegner 49 % of company (unless you are american) and 51 % of shares have to be in Thai person names I dont think majority share holders would have any issues
That is not a problem as the 51% Thai shares will have no voting rights. Or you write into the founding constitution:
- change of directors needs 75% votes.
- Issuing dividends need 75% votes.
- maximum amount of dividends issued at any fiscal year can only be 10% of the earnings

That is all wrong sorry.
First you open the company, and you are managing director.
4 Thai workers you only need if you have the wrong company set up, and: what a work permit for your self.
No salaries involved at all.
Get a lawyer if YOU want to open a company and work. Do not spread half knowledge which is not only half wrong but 99% wrong in forums.

STEP 2: optional no need to do that, unless you want to do it
Get a Non B (non immigrant visa based on business). Requirement: some company that hires you. And have a work contract. Oh, see: if you want to work for your own company, you have to have done STEP 1 already. So that the managing director of said company: can make a work contract with you. No work contract -> no Business visa.
STEP 3:
Work permit. If you want to work and not only be shareholder and managing director, you need a work permit. Depending on what kind of company you own, NOW you need workers.
See? STEP 1? No workers needed to make a company. You need "perhaps" workers for STEP 3. And if you do not make STEP 1 - without workers, you do not reach STEP 3,
AND NOW I TELL IT TO YOU AGAIN: stop posting legal advice about stuff you have no clue about. It is illegal anyway: because you are not a lawyer. If you want to make a company: then ask a lawyer how to do it.

PS. STEP 3 depends on the kind of company and your "social status". If you are married, the company hiring you, needs only TWO workers, not FOUR. So you hire your wife ... and hence you only need ONE additional worker.
Or you make a company under BOI regulations: *NO* Thai partner needed, *NO* workers needed.
