How do you get a retirement visa with out bank account and funds when you can't get a bank account with out a retirement visa?
Answer summary
To obtain a retirement visa (NON-O) for Thailand without a Thai bank account, you can apply for the visa at a Thai embassy using funds from your home country bank account. After receiving the visa, you can enter Thailand, then open a local bank account where you can deposit the required 800,000 THB. Once the funds have been in the account for at least two months, you can apply for a one-year extension of stay. Many expats have successfully navigated this process and recommend using agents for assistance if needed.

You get the retirement visa in your own country using your home country bank account. Then when in Thailand arrange a bank account.
Have equivalent of 800,000 ฿ in your own bank in your country. Apply to Thailand embassy for non O retirement visa. With visa travel to Thailand, open bank , transfer funds to Thailand. Let settle 2 months apply for one year extension
It is a great question and it looks like a catch 22 to everyone who looks at it first up. But the solution is using your finances in a bank in your home country to apply for the 90 day non 0 visa and then using that visa once in Thailand to setup a bank account here. (Dont use bangkok bank) and transfer your 800,000 thai baht into that and after 2 months can extend your 90 days by 1 year.
What happened to need a one year residency certificate also for the bank, from what i read and hear most banks wont open with just a immigrant non o visa ,
Gerald Blairs because they know you get the visa before arriving. Then they can open a bank account. No point arriving without a visa and trying to open a bank account.
When we got into Thailand we got our condo which gave us our TM30. That TM30 showed we had a year contract. Then we took that paperwork to an agent to help facilitate opening the bank account and voilà retirement visa.
You are overcomplicating it, because your WORDING is wrong.
You can get a 90-days Non-O Retirement Visa with money in your home bank account.
Then you enter Thailand on the Retirement Visa, get stamped in for a 90-days STAY PERMIT. The Retirement Visa becomes invalid and cannot be used for an entry anymore.
Then you get a Thai bank account opened ASAP and transfer a minimum of 800,000 THB into it.
After the deposit has seasoned for 2 months, you apply for the 1-year EXTENSION of the STAY PERMIT.
You do NOT apply for a Retirement Visa on Immigration, you already had one and it became invalid when you entered Thailand
Thai embassies do not require a Thai bank account to get a non-O visa. So you apply for a visa at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand. That's how visas work. They are for entering a country.
