Hello. I am enquiring if applying for a retirement visa I need to have documents translated. I am been told this in Hua Sai. Which is 64km south of Nakhon siThammarat. Also the Krungtai bank told me they can only open accounts for people with jobs. All appears strange to me.

Any advice appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about whether document translation is necessary for applying for a retirement visa in Thailand, with mention of issues related to opening a bank account. Community members indicated that document translation isn't required for the retirement visa application but emphasized challenges in opening a bank account without a Non-O visa, suggesting alternative banking options and the potential benefits of hiring an agent for assistance.

Cannot get a retirement visa without a bank account and you can't get a bank account without a non o visa minimum length of visa is 12 months

Your problem is going to be opening a bank account rather than translations. Leave Thailand to a nearby country, obtain a Non-O visa, return to Thailand, obtain a residence certificate from your local immigration office, visit a bank and open an account, transfer a minimum of 800k baht and once its been in the bank 2 months apply for a 12 month extension of stay

It costs a bit more, but I say get an agent. 6 years now. no hassle.

Try another bank such as Kasikorn

Go to the head office branch in bangkok. I don't believe you will have an issue. It was simple for me and most people.

What documents do you need translated for a retirement visa? That doesn't make any sense. Nothing that's required for a retirement visa/extension would be in a foreign language.
