I'm a DJ planning to play at some commercial and non commercial events in Thailand. Do I need to apply for any type of work visa? Even if I choose not be paid?
Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A DJ planning to perform in Thailand must apply for a work visa and obtain a work permit, regardless of payment status. Even unpaid volunteering is considered work and requires legal permission. The process typically necessitates sponsorship by a Thai company. Failure to adhere to these requirements can result in serious legal consequences.

It doesn't matter if you get paid or not, it's still considered work and if you do not have a work permit you face arrest, detention, and deportation.

to formally volunteer for a longer period in Thailand, you must apply for a Non-Immigrant O Volunteer Visa.
Yup look up the last DJ who got arrested in Thailand!

Yes, even volunteering requires the proper Visa etc.

Any work in Thailand requires the proper visa and a work permit, including volunteer work for no pay. But you can't just apply for either of these. You need a Thai company to sponsor you for both of them.
