Can I switch from applying for an EDV to a DTV after my entry statement in Thailand?

Question regarding immigration statement and visa changes.

I recently came back into Bangkok via Suvarnabhumi and was told I have entered too frequently with a tourist visa. They gave me a form to fill a statement of my intention before letting me pass. In my statement I wrote my plans to obtain a EDV. The officer kindly told me this would be my last time i can enter with a tourist visa and suggested I look into DTV as it looks more suitable for me.

After looking into DTV I found I qualify for one of the DTV options and would also be able to follow through with my planned studies on the DTV too.

My question is can I apply for the DTV instead of the EDV now? Will my previous statement at the airport affect it since I put down EDV and not DTV? Due to new regulations I will be flying to my home country to apply. Just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly to avoid pitfalls.

For context : Both my parents have worked and are currently retired in Thailand, my siblings also currently live and work in Bangkok hence my numerous visits in a single year to make an effort to see them often. I am happy to oblige to any rules and regulations but i wasn't aware of the capped entry and latest regulations.

Any helpful advice is most appreciated, Thanks!
Answer summary
A traveler recently faced issues upon re-entering Thailand with a tourist visa, being informed they had entered too frequently. After speaking with an immigration officer, they expressed their intent to apply for an Education Visa (EDV) but were advised to consider a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) instead. They now seek clarification on whether they can apply for the DTV instead of the EDV, given their previous statement at the airport stated they would pursue the EDV. The community response emphasizes the need for timely documentation submission and concerns about potential application rejection if the traveler leaves Thailand.

I’d send them the requested docs asap. They are usually quick. Also there is no way of knowing you left (unless your passport will get stamped and they request passport pages, or you are called for an interview)

Unless you are travelling to Thailand, they have no way of knowing you have left the country, but you could be called in for an interview.

If you leave the country you're applying in during the application process there is a very high probability your application will be rejected or canceled and you will lose your payment. Send them the documents they requested today and hopefully you will get approved in time for your trip.

Generally you have 2 weeks to submit additional documents before your application is rejected.
