I (50+ yo) entered Thailand as visa exemption 60 days. Can I switch to retirement visa if I have sufficient funds in the Thai bank?
I have also a granddaughter who is a Thai citizen. So is there a visa for my case beside retirement visa?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 50+ year old individual currently in Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption can switch to a retirement visa, provided they have sufficient funds (at least 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account solely in their name) and at least 15 days remaining on their current visa. They must apply for a 90-day Non-O visa based on retirement at the immigration office, which may have varying capabilities for processing such applications. Additionally, having a Thai granddaughter does not offer any visa options beyond what is available to retirees.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

You can meet the proof of funds (800K in a thai bank account in your name only), plus you need to have enough time left on your 60 day visa exempt entry (usually a minimum of 15 days or more) and at MOST offices apply first for the in country 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement for 2000baht
Go to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the requirements to do the in country 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement.
Keep in mind not all offices can/will issue in country Non-Immigrant visas, so if they don't you may have to go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and get one then come in and apply for the year extension when you have 30 days or less left on it
Sadly that you have a thai granddaughter doesn't cut any ice with immigrations as far as any visa you could qualify for ๐
