I Arrived in July this year on a multiple entry 6 month Tourist Visa.
I married my Thai Girlfriend a bit over a week ago can I now open a Thai Bank account so I can try and Apply for the Nano Marriage Visa ?
Answer summary
The individual is inquiring if they can open a Thai bank account to apply for a Non-O Marriage Visa after recently marrying their Thai girlfriend while on a multiple entry 6-month Tourist Visa. The consensus among the comments is that it is not possible to switch from a tourist visa to a marriage visa immediately after marriage. They must first obtain a Non-O visa, which typically requires being married for a minimum of 3 months before applying. Opening a bank account on a tourist visa is also viewed as challenging, but some suggest doing it at a branch affiliated with their spouse.

Korat told me they will actually convert a tourist visa to a Non O - which is strange for them, they're not usually very accommodating. However, they and the good folks here, told me that applying in the UK is easier - I took that advice. There are some extra hoops to jump through if you apply at Korat - not worth the hassle. Also, they change with the wind. What they told me a few months ago doesn't necessarily stand now. When you say you married your Thai girlfriend a week ago.......do you mean a legal marriage or the village monk ceremony?
No you can't. Plus immigration offices inside Thailand are very unlikely to issue a marriage visa any until you've been married 3 a minimum of 3 months. Take the marriage certificate, a copy of your wife's housebook and ID and go to Laos or another nearby country to apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa. Once you have it, return to Thailand and open a bank account, put a minimum of 400k baht into the account and once it's been in the account 2 months you can apply for a 12 month extension of stay
bank likely to be difficult and i doubt youโd be able to switch to non-o in Korat. Was on tourist too, told me to go home and get my non-o first but wish u all the best!
