TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether one can open a bank account in Thailand with a 1-year Education Visa (ED Visa). Participants point out that while an ED visa is not a tourist visa, banks may have varying policies regarding account openings for holders of this visa. Some users indicate that the initial sticker of the ED visa lasts only 3 months, leading to banks being hesitant to open accounts until the one-year extension is approved. Others suggest that presenting school documents proving enrollment in a full-year course might help in opening an account, although experiences differ widely.
Yes, if it were 18 months ago. Now, it's tough. Those agents in Pattaya are scared to death right now to take your money. But you just have to find the right one at the right price. Good luck.
As First Sticker Ed Visa has 3 month times, So banks don't want to open account with that time. they ask to come after one year extension approved. Even with university document banks are refusing.
yes seems logical, but also the ED visa sticker with 3 months , i will present it to the bank with school documents that proof I have paid 1-year course , not 3 months. So is it possible to open it during the first 3 months?
It's not a tourist visa, it's an education visa. Whether the bank will let you open an account or not is up to them. Many reports of people with ED having issues.
