ORIGINAL POSTERI have the O-A visa (retirement) i have no intention of working but i want to go on the committee for the condo complex as i am sure i can add value. Is this allowed or is this considered working.

You can be active as a committee member, only a committee chairman is possibly, though extremely rarely, held to account for 'working without a permit'

Depends on what your are going to do on the committee. Just attend a meeting and join the discussion or signing papers, handle funds etc.
