Hello, I want to make a retirement visa soon, one option is 65000 baht monthly income, let's say I transfer from Germany every year one million baht on my thai account, not monthly but more than the 65000×12 is this ok?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the eligibility for a retirement visa in Thailand, specifically whether transferring 1 million baht annually satisfies the monthly income requirement of 65,000 baht. Responses clarified that for the first year, an 800,000 baht deposit is required in a Thai bank account. After the first year, one can opt for the monthly income requirement provided there is an income affidavit from the embassy. However, interpretations of the rules may vary by immigration office, with some requiring proof of monthly transfers regardless of how the funds reach Thailand.

So like having houses / condos for rent back home as income doesn't really count?
John **********
@Markus *******
if you can show the income to your embassy and they accept it then it will count

Markus, as a German you need to have 800 000 baht in a thai bank. I have an account with this amount and i leave it there.

Or you need a written proof like a Rentenbescheid of monthly minimum 65 000 baht, which have to be transfered monthly.

It's 65k per calendar month. However as a German you can use the embassy income affidavit which doesn't require transferring any money.

All Immigration offices have a slightly different interpretation of the rules.

Hua Hin you have to show a minimum of 65k every single month from abroard, so no if you transfer 200k in January you must still do 65k in february etc
John **********
You can not use the 65k baht per month option as your embassy provides an income affidavit. You need to get this from your embassy or use the 800k option

- according to immigration guidelines, if a person can show embassy affidavit confirming the are on a pensionable income of 65k (or more) then they can use the 65k option. I am a UK citizen so i used the
*******
k rule but switched to the 65k rule in April.

@James **************
yes they allow those whose embassy will not provide an affidavit to transfer from overseas a minimum of 65k baht each and every month for the 12 months before applying for an extension
Graham *******
Go for the 1-year extension of stay put 800k in a thai bank account!

I know, this I have, but to renew is my question, with the

First year’s extension is 800k 2 months before the day you apply

What’s your nationality?
Graham ******
No, your first year must be 800k in a Thai bank by international transfer. From year 2 you can use the 65k/month for the previous 12 months.

@Graham *****
- there appears to be lots of advice given re these 'rules' but perhaps would be useful to show either a screenshot or link to actual immigration regulations that state the actual law ?
Graham ******
@James **************
can you read Thai as the Royal Gazette containing Thai laws is only in Thai?
James ***************
@Graham *****
- but i get your point. Is the guidance on the immigration website at odds with actual law ?

@Graham *****
- i can get somebody to translate.
