TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about cooking classes in Pattaya suitable for obtaining a DTV visa. The conversation revealed varied experiences, with some noting that surprisingly, a visa can be acquired through a short cooking class. Individuals shared their recommendations for cooking classes, particularly House of Taste in Bangkok, and discussed the credibility of different programs. The discussion also touched on concerns regarding potential changes in visa regulations and the necessity of committing to longer courses for stability.

I'm doing mine at House of Taste in Bangkok and will travel up there about once a month. They have legit classes and trips to local markets. Note: classes are 3.5 hours long. Stay away from agencies offering cooking classes you don't need to attend.

A bit crazy that you can get a 5 year visa for a 6 month cooking class.

nothing crazy, especially considering you can get the same DTV under workation category by simply being (self-) employed for a few months and then quit once you get that visa.

it's highly recommended that you enroll in at least a 12-month program.

got mine with a 6-month course only. And a good friend got his DTV with just a 1-month Muay Thai class, and that was not so long ago...

I'm thinking further down the road. With tightening policies and intensifying scrutiny, I take comfort in my overkill.

or not. Anyway, even if they were to change anything, it would not retroactively affect those who already got their DTV. It would also not make much sense, as the Thai government has been actively working on attracting more and more foreigners who genuinely live and spend their $$$ in this country, and they've been doing so for years / decades. That's why this visa has been designed as something easy to obtain, and some neighboring countries also offer more or less the same. They'll most probably simply keep cracking down on those who *abuse* the system and truly deserve to be kicked out of Thailand.
