Hey everyone!

Is anyone in Hanoi at the moment? I’m here solo and would love to meet up for a drink or even a bit of a party this weekend if you’re around!

I just got approved for the workcation!

I applied last Saturday and got the green light today (Friday). The status changed to ‘Pending approval’ on Tuesday, so it all went through pretty quickly.

For the application, I submitted proof of my self-employment from the UK, six months of bank statements and invoices, a letter explaining what I do, why I want to stay in Thailand, and that I won’t be working with any Thai clients. I also included a letter from my main client confirming what I do, that I’ll continue working with him, and that remote work is totally fine.

I had 500k baht in my main account for the past three months, and I also added proof that I’m currently in Vietnam, along with some examples from my work portfolio.

The biggest struggle was making sure all the PDFs were small enough - under 3MB. I actually used ChatGPT to help me sort everything out and even create the PDFs, but I still had to adjust and compress everything properly in Adobe Acrobat. If you're adding screenshots or scans, make sure to keep them as small as possible!

The only thing I was unsure about was the ‘Place of issue’ field — my Polish passport doesn’t have that, just an ‘authority’ field, and it was issued in Jakarta. I just copied exactly what was written there and it worked fine.

Really happy it’s all sorted! Thanks for all your posts here, they were super helpful :)

Approved through US Consulate.

Applied Feb 18th. Requested additional documents March 3rd, Approved March 5th.

I applied online through the evisa site on the 18th through Workcation catagory.

I am self employed but did not have the funds required for the visa application so I had my dad sponsor me with his savings account.

Was initially worried about that being under workcation catagory but after I applied they just needed an employement verification letter signed (by myself) and they approved it.

I submitted:

Letter of Intent, Employment Contract, Proof of Work (Link to my site and invoices), Sponsorship Letter, Bank Statements (I used 6 months), Copy of My Dads Passport for ID verification, and Employment Verification Letter. I had already purhcased my flight and made a hotel reservation for my travels (March 31st is my flight out)

I wanted to say thank you to this group as I combed over tons of posts before submitting my application. I have never been anywhere outside of the US and Mexico (right across the border) but this has been a dream for going on 10 years now so I am so hyped to make it happen.

I used ChatGPT throughout my process to help me draft letters and follow the requirements with the DTV. I had ChatGPT make editable templates of all the letters I submitted if that would be helpful I put them here in a shareable folder (just make your own copy of them as needed).

I am considering the DTV for Workcation - I am not a freelancer but have several virtual jobs that I can provide documentation for income and employment. How do I have my employment contract or employment certificate authenticated by a US embassy for the DTV application?

Pretty straight forward, applied for workcation as a Director of company(registered with investment commission)

Just ask me what I'll be doing which my answer was managing my company from here and probably travel around thailand. Paid the fees and got back in two days.

- company annual tax return (notarized)

- company letter detailing my work addressed to Ambassador with stamp and seal

- bank statement 4 months (loads of transaction)

- Company Registration

- Company List of Shareholders

- passport copies

If you are a director/BOD of registered company, you don't need that much of documents apart from having a strong bank statement. Good luck 🙌
