Hello all.
I am in a very unique situation where I won an unemployment tribunal on the basis of severe bullying from management that I decided to whistle blow on. I'm posting anonymously as I had to sign an NDA.
The money was paid to me in a lump sum of $150,000 from my company and then I had a four month gap in between where I received no new income as I was living on this settlement payment.
I now have a new role and I'm an employed remote worker. Majority of that settlement payment was given to family members. So I only have around 30,000 left.
Do you think immigration would accept or understand being paid a large assessment payment as a result of an employment tribunal as an acceptable source of income, if there were a few months in between where I received no income at all and was unemployed?
Do you think I should explain this to them especially considering I signed a NDA or do you think this will just make them see me as complex and it is better off saying that I was just paid off a large redundancy payment?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned whether a lump sum payment received from an unemployment tribunal due to bullying at work would be accepted as a source of income for their remote worker visa application in Thailand, especially considering a gap in employment. Comments suggest that immigration primarily requires proof of current employment and income, and that it's advisable to simplify the explanation by possibly applying for a different visa type if the current situation is complicated.
