DTV approved Canberra Australia. Soft Power - Medical.
Just posting this as mine maybe a little different than what I’ve seen. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and although it’s basically under control, I do need to do semi regular blood tests and see a specialist doctor for my medication. My Dr in Oz is retiring so after 30 plus years, it’s an ideal time to change specialist. Spending over 11 years in Thailand on O visas for Retirement and then a Spouse (married) visa’s (extensions) I was happy to find a specialist in Hua Hin where I have a house and change to DTV and avoid the normal extension requirements of my O visa. I went to this Thai Doctor’s clinic and had blood tests and examination and asked if she could write a letter suitable for the DTV which she had never heard of but said ok.
So I had my initial examination receipt plus another visit a few months later when I was ready to return to Australia. On my initial receipt, they spelt my name wrong so I did get that fixed and a new print from the clinic. So it’s good to double check these details as I’ve read they can be very particular at the embassies.
I uploaded all the details via the evisa portal. I did have bank statements showing over the required balance for 12 months. It is a savings account but I had not made any withdrawals. I added another account to show I had passive income to support myself over again 12 months. I also added information from my bank’s website showing that the particular savings account earns better interest but is still ‘at call’ if no withdrawals over a month. Hence no withdrawals.
You only get the last 2 sections on the evisa portal to upload; the bank statements and the other for the medical letters (in my case). So I combined the bank statements plus website grabs and added some highlighted text to make it clear what each statement was.
For the medical letter upload, I also added a cover letter plus the medical letter and receipts from the clinic. Plus I added a letter from my Thai wife stating my home address and I live there, including her Thai ID details.
Uploaded on Sunday 23rd and approved today (25th Feb). No questions asked.
Printed out my letter which was emailed to me and will get it laminated ready for immigration officers in Thailand.
Hope these details help others, particularly soft power medical options that maybe you already have and want to go onto this Visa.
Please let me know if there’s any questions 👍😄

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully obtained a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand after changing their specialist doctor due to their condition, Rheumatoid Arthritis. They provided detailed steps including medical examinations, uploading bank statements, and submitting medical letters via the evisa portal. They emphasized the importance of clear documentation, as they received quick approval for the visa without additional questions. Additional comments from the community praised the information and shared tools for managing PDF documents, as well as questioning the choice of visa given the user's marriage to a Thai spouse.
Anonymous participant I have 2 UK pals doing same. They do about 6 months a year on Spouse Visa. Money tied up in Thai Bank plus immigration visits to home etc. The DTV is just more convenient for them for 5 years. They went workaytion route and used home based Ltd companies to say work remotely while in Thailand
Anonymous participant you said to avoid the normal extension requirements? What specifically didn’t you like about those? They seem relatively easy and straightforward
I already answered this to someone else but basically the extra paperwork & inconvenience, 3 months for 400k thb in my case in an account (2 months prior to extension and 1 month waiting to get final stamp, not wanting to wear a crap exchange rate and so on. Just too restrictive against the ease of DTV. Hope that help you understand
Anonymous participant I am on retirement and considering the DTV or Smart S. Medical Soft Power shpukd work for me at a decent clinic if I went that way. I have various aches and pains lol
yeah with the rubbish exchange rate I didn’t feel like bringing in the 400k bht for my O Spouse extension plus the paperwork so suits me. Plus more trips back to Oz in my future
