TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on how to transition to a retirement visa after working in Thailand for 10 years and holding a work permit. They also inquire about the process for their wife, who has been on a dependent visa for the same duration. Comments suggest visiting the local immigration office for a comprehensive list of requirements for the Non-O retirement visa and detail that both individuals may find the transition straightforward, especially if they confirm the specific procedures at their local office.

I took four weeks vacation time from my job. The Uni where I worked, gave me a letter stating that my last day of work was the day my extension ended. I went to immigration the letter and they canceled my extension on my last day. I then applied for a retirement extension. I got it three weeks prior to my work extension expired. I had to prove that I originally came in on a tourist visa though prior to my orinal non b extension. I even changed provinces.

You will need to cancel your extension and then apply immediately for the "retirement" extension.

Your wife will "should" also be able to retain her dependant status and not need banking funds herself.

Check with your local office, before making any moves.

In theory this should be a relativley easy transition.

You're both likely on extensions and not visas, should be pretty straightforward to change the reason for your extensions. As always contact your local immigration office and ask for the handout and procedures to change reason for extension.

Go to your local Immigration Office and ask for the list of requirements for getting a Non O visa based on retirement. Compile the documents on the list.
