TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around making a border run to Myanmar from Phuket, but concerns have been raised about the recent earthquake affecting travel. Suggestions include alternative routes to Malaysia or Cambodia due to safety and accessibility issues with the Myanmar border. Users are advising against traveling to Myanmar at this time, citing potential risks and complications related to the current disaster. There have been mixed conversations about whether the Ranong border is still operational, noting recent police and army presence, but consensus warns against pursuing a trip to Myanmar given the current situation.
There is no devastation at the Ranong border , itβs a 4 hour drive from Phuket. There is a speed trap in khura buri the last few days and an army checkpoint just before Ranong and two days ago it was also manned by police and immigration officers.
In all honesty I can't advise you on that.. I always used to do my visa run to Cambodia.. Now I have a retirement visa which changes everything.. Good luck anyway π
