I want to share my experience and give everyone continued hope for applying DTV soft power course Muy Thai at HCMC, Vietnam.
27 APRIL arrived in HCMC
(30 April, 1 May & 4 May - Vietnam public holidays)
3 MAY submitted application online
12 MAY received email request for further documents and information (1. extend Viet visa as I had chosen to leave Vietnam 12 May and instead I did a border bounce via Cambodia. 2. Request my Muy Thai gym to email Royal Thai Consulate-General directly with my confirmation letter. 3. Either provide employment contract, pay slips etc or if Im not employed, what is my 5 year plan under DTV)
13 MAY sent response at approx 8am (before office opens at 9am)
15 MAY status changed to 'Pending approval"
18 MAY status changed to approve.... on my birthday.
Minus public holiday + w/ends. My application process had taken 10 business days. There was an backlog due to mention public holidays above.
My takeaways, I wish I was told to stay as long as I can in Vietnam. In this instance I applied for Vietnam eVisa and allows me up to 90 days, but chose to stay 2 weeks from my arrival. This was not enough and luckily I was able to do a border bounce.
Financial documents - I have 3 different Australian banking institutions/accounts. First account is my max savings account for requirement of 500K THB for minimum 3 months. I provided 4 months statement.
Second account is my offset account for my investment property. Passive rental income is paid into this account from my Real Estate Agent. I then transfer money from this account to my third account, personal savings account and it is here that I withdraw monthly ATM cash withdrawals in Thailand.
Second and Third accounts I showed 6 months statement. I highlighted how funds transfer from one account to the other and then cash withdrawal from Thailand. My cover letter made this clear and easy to follow as well.
Ive been on a 2 year Education visa and before I applied for DTV, I made sure to request my school to cancel said visa. They sent me confirmation letter and email. I noticed from this group that previous DTV applicants who were also education visa students we're advised by Thai immigration that they can only have one type of Thai visa at a time. So if you are in a similar situation like me, cancel your education visa prior to applying for DTV and make sure to receive confirmation from your school that said visa is cancelled.
I applied for DTV on my own (no agent) and I thoroughly prepared myself with the help of this group, ChatGPT Pro and contacts who are currently DTV Muy Thai approved too.
All the best everyone applying and simply ask yourself "Does your application make sense in the eyes of a Thai Immigration officer and is it easy to follow? does your cover letter explain clearly?" I had friends and DTV Muy Thai approved contacts review my cover letters that helped too.
