DTV regulation on content creation question

I was wondering if there’s somewhere a regulation when it comes to exact rules for what you can make money with on a dtv. For example everyone says you can’t work for a Thai company or a client. But for example when it comes to content creation does this also count when I film a video in a store and tag them but didn’t get any money from them. Or I interview a person about their business, this is filmed e.g. in Siam and the business is tagged. I could earn money from that video via YouTube or tikTok but I haven’t been payed by that thai business. Does anyone know how that works?
Answer summary
The regulations surrounding content creation for Digital Thai Visa (DTV) holders are complex and often ambiguous. While DTV holders can work remotely for foreign companies, creating content that involves Thai businesses or monetizing videos filmed in Thailand (even indirectly) may classify as 'working in Thailand,' which is prohibited under DTV rules. Many users cited experiences indicating that partnerships, filming within Thailand for commercial gain, and even simple content creation that tags Thai businesses may require additional permissions or could be deemed illegal. Overall, prospective content creators should proceed cautiously, particularly regarding any work that has the potential to be interpreted as earning income within Thailand.

Content creation in Thailand is considered working in Thailand. The DTV strictly prevents working in Thailand unless it is remote work, for a foreign company.

You may need able to apply for a soft power class...

This was posted recently from London: "Consent letter to acknowledge that DTV holders can work remotely only, will not engage in any employment, business activities including Film making, income-generating work from Thailand and will not be in contravention of local Thai laws."

There's a lack of clarity in many rules in Thailand and this is one of them.

I have argued before the content creation and 'local' line is hazy and you won't know until you get in trouble. If you cause any offence that's when they find reason to make issues.

Just creating video content, for a foreign site, on general subjects from inside your home while in Thailand is considered a digital nomad activity and OK for a DTV holder. Making photos or videos of Thai sights, businesses or people and making money from them can be considered working in Thailand, not OK for DTV.

Pretty big grey area. So far I haven’t heard of it being enforced. But taking money for ads would for sure fall into working illegally. Then again there are people like that Russian comedian who actively advertising DTV and getting paid to advertise. He should definitely be caught

I think you can showcase your portfolio without delving into Thailand content, tagging, interviewing Thai businesses and people in your application. Don't ask don't tell.

I just applied and got accepted as YouTuber. Have some videos about Thailand but my income comes from Adsense and brand deals, and have US business. So showing all of this it was fine for me. I’ll make a video about my DTV process soon!

Filming YouTube videos physically within Thailand with or without direct compensation from a Thai company would still legally be considered work within Thailand and would require a proper visa and work permit.

Any partnerships (tagging as you say) with people in Thailand (Thai companies, Thai nationals, or foreigners) are considered working in Thailand, whether they involve money, freebies or are intended to generate indirect income.
