TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion primarily revolves around the DTV (Digital Tourist Visa), with users congratulating the poster on successfully entering Thailand on this visa. It is clarified that the DTV is not an immigrant visa but rather a long-term tourist visa, allowing the holder to stay for an extended period. Several comments provide encouragement and celebrate the achievement, while one user seeks further assistance regarding the requirements for holding a DTV.

DTV isn't an immigrant visa. It's an extended period tourist visa

The only immigrant visa that exists in Thailand is a permanent residency visa.

Some just think they can use it just as an immigrant visa, useless to try to tell them.

And most of them just get away with the abuse for now, maybe even for the full 5 years

What are you talking about abuse???

@Robin ***
When you read in this group some people openly say their soft power activity has ended, and they still use the visa to visit the country. That means their reason of stay no longer matches the visa, eg abuse of visa.
Pete *******
@Luit ****************
complete nonsense, itโ€™s a tourist visa, after completing their soft power activity they are free to enjoy the rest of their time being a tourist.

Tourists are visiting, them are some fundamental diffrences between being on a real long term visa and just a DTV tourist visa.

How does someone complying with their DTV requirements adversely affect anyone else?

@Oleg **********
that's not true, you can stay for the whole 5 years provided you travel abroad here and then. I mean, you don't need to wait for the 180 days to enter and/or reenter. Since I got my DTV, I visit home once every 2-3 months, so I don't even need to worry about counting 180 days. Been for a year now.
Luit *****************
@Elรญas *******
That is only true as long as they accept the border runs.

Nobody knows if they will accept this for the full 5 years, probably they will, probably they won't.

They also can check for requirements for the people doing border runs, because it is more likely these people also do not comply to the visa rules anymore.

People like you just leaving every 2-3 months for over 15 minutes will not have problems then.

@Luit ****************
No DTV holder has been refused entry. There is nothing to suggest that they ever will be. Why attempt to cause unease? What are these visa rules with which you say people are likely no longer complying with?
Oleg ***********
@Elรญas *******
yes, sure. I never said otherwise. I meant can only stay 180 maximum at one time.
