Hi, just want to make sure of something. Is there a desk for re-entry permits at suvarnabhumi? Could go to immigration today before a flight on Monday, but will save myself a trip if there’s definitely still a desk there. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, there is a re-entry permit desk at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is open 24/7. You can complete the re-entry permit process before your flight. It's recommended to go to International Departure Gate 2 and take a right after the security check to find the desk. You can bring a filled TM.8 form and a passport-size photo to expedite your application and save on additional fees.

I obtained a re-entry permit at BKK yesterday morning. It's THB cash only. I brought a completed TM8 form with me and the process took 45-50 minutes! Got my passport back 10 minutes before my flight was scheduled to take off over on the other side of the airport. Quite a few others in the same situation.

Pretty funny the immigration at the biggest airport in the country call it a ‘reentry visa’ but if someone used that term on this forum, they would be jumped on and told that there’s no such thing

A friend thought he can pay with card. If you are already behind security control you have a problem.

Two weeks ago at Swampy they fill the application for you on computer and take your photo and print it out for that 200 THB service fee.

I had all prepared including passport copies but they just took the application and my passport. Saved me couple of minutes I guess.

Go to International departure Gate 2 when going to the security check at Suvarnabhumi airport. Go to the right at the bottom of the escalator after the security check. It's the easiest way to find the re-entry permit counter (they put the name "Re-Entry Visa").

You can bring a filled TM.8 form to save 5 mins to fill the form there.

You can bring a passport-size photo to save an extra 200 baht service fee.

Can you access this ‘desk’ externally at a different entrance from the departures area or do you have to enter immigration having checked in with an outbound ticket and gone through security upstairs?

, you can go there only after you check in for the flight and clear the security screening.

You can access the re-entry permit counter from airside after you are stamped out if you go to another departure gate. Just tell the officer you need a re-entry permit.

Thanks. I figured that was the case as I couldn’t recollect seeing anything different but just wanted clarification. I have seen the desk from inside immigration departures previously. So best practice would be to obtain re-entry permits from your local immigration office.

There are re-entry permit desks at Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi. They are open

.

You can have all the copies, photo, form and pay "face value" (1000 baht single, 3800 baht multiple)

or

you can just show up with only your passport and pay the 200 baht service charge (along with the reg price) and they'll sell you one too 😛 (1200 baht single, 4000 baht multiple)

it's never taken me more than 15 minutes at DM, but you never know how busy they will be.
