TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, the Mae Sai border run is doable on Sundays. All land borders in Thailand, including Mae Sai, are open every day of the week, and bus services from Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai also operate on Sundays. Travelers have confirmed that both the border and bus services are available, making it a viable option for those looking to do a border run.
Both the border is open and the bus service (from either Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai) runs on Sundays. I have done it on Sunday myself before. If you are in Chiang Mai, Green Bus VIP is the one you want. 319B for a VIP seat, which I highly recommend. 4h40 on the bus. From Chiang Rai you can just go down the bus station and there are very frequent local buses running continually.
it was indeed open. thanks for the answer it avoided me lot of hassle to do it today rather than tmw. do u know by any chance why is it necessary to actually stamp in in myanmar before stamping it back to thailand ? why one's cant just stamp out goes to the no mans land and directly stamp back in. i mean. what does it changr for thailand ? they re still able to refuse u if they want
