Police have been out to check me in village to witness where I'm living is legitimate, so be careful they took photo of me at the residency (where I'm staying) and copy of my passport, is this normal?
TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not uncommon for Thai police to conduct residency checks on foreigners. They may take photographs and request a copy of your passport to ensure that your accommodation is legitimate and that you are residing legally in the country. This is part of their efforts to monitor the residency status of expatriates in Thailand.
