When your DTV status changes to pending approval is that a good sign or still 50/50?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A change in DTV status to pending approval indicates that documents are under review, but it is not necessarily a guarantee of approval. Experiences vary, with some users reporting rejections despite this status change. It's advised to watch for any further requests for information.

Just means they are finally reviewing it. Keep an eye out for a request for more information.

Do you get an email saying accepted or do you have to check the status on the dashboard?

Unfortunately it doesn’t mean much. Lots of people have been rejected even after the status changed to pending approval.
