Hello the guide I'm using suggests a cover page for each section (financial requirements, proof of location, soft power/work proof). It says you need to sign it - is this the common practice and is a digital signature good enough?

Digi-signatures are fine. I just provided 1 cover letter detailing the sections submitted. It is your choice if you want a cover letter for each section.
I only used digital signatures for my application. Didn't physically sign a single page. I do have mine saved in both black and blue so I rotated them.
