How long does it typically take for HCM visa approval between 'Pending Approval' and 'Approved'?

To convert a home country driving license into a Thai license just with reference to the IDP.

1. DL is in English - no IDP required.

2. DL is not in English

A) Get an IDP

or

B) Get an Embassy verified translation into Thai.

In my case I was already in Thailand with a German DL, Pattaya has a German consulate who provided the required verification.

Got mine after searching everywhere

Don't need IDP if license is in English and the country is part of the Geneva convention.

Car licence I did.

Training on the app,register and then watch the videos. 5 very easy questios. Get issued a QR code which was valid for 6 months and has to be shown at the DLT office.

Resident certificate from immigration 500 baht. Seems cheaper in other places. Valid for one month.

Medical certificate,went to a random dr, 5 minutes, 100 baht.

Couldn't get appointment on the app so just Sent to the DLT office in Udon thani.

Gave them documents plus original UK passprt and UK driving licence plus photo copy of everything,always take copies😀.

There was a photo copy machine available as well at the office.

Registered, paid, 207 baht, did tests for braking reaction, eye test for colour and depth and awareness perceptions. 4 years total.

Got picture taken and left with my two year driving licence.

From arriving at DLT..with no appointment,to leaving..40 minutes.

Total cost. 807 baht.

I've wondered if an IDP is necessary if your licence is in English. As far as I understand, an IDP is simply an English translation of your drivers licence. Or does your home country do an infringement search as well?

I heard some places you can take a 2 hour training course to get a license if you don’t have experience. But idk if that’s just motorbikes?

If in Pattaya got too Buddys Visa on 3rd road they will sort you out ok

International Drivers Permit and visit to the office unless you want to get ripped off with an illegal licence.

If you are a citizen of ASEAN countries, your very own homecountry driving license works just fine without the need to convert it to International Driving License, nonetheless Thai Driving License.

I've always used my Indonesian Driving License whenever visiting Thailand. And i do drive at least a total of +5000km during my stay because i have plenty of relatives to visit from North to South. And YES! I have been stopped countless times by the patrols and those drunk-posts officers, they asked me to show my driving license, i showed mine in Bahasa. All they checked was my photo and expiration date and bid me safe journey. Not once i have i ever been fined both on motorbikes nor cars.

I use the Bang Chak DLT office. I find that if I go in person I can get an appointment earlier than if you try to do it online. They gave me a list of the documents needed plus the link to the online movie you have to watch before your appointment.

You are going to need a residency certificate. Ask to get it the same day. You pay a small fee for the faster service.

has pretty much nailed the entire process, however before you get residency certificate or medical get an appointment with the DLT first. Some of the busier offices can have a 6 or more week wait. They will not accept these two documents if they are more than 30 days old. You'll feel a right d|ck if you get these documents and then find out the next available appointment is 45 days away. I know I did 🤔.

I obtained a 5 yr driving licence,car and motorbike when I had a 90 day non o visa,but when I went to renew it they would only give me a two year renewal as I was on a tv.

All these people saying do this and do that😂 just pay an agent 1500 for motorcycles and 2500 for cars. Easy peazy japanisie 😂

I tried all the shops on the list they give you nobody does it or look at as if your stupid or say try the post office which do not do it any more

Just did mine last week.

Medical certificate and residence certificate. Take those, your home countries DL, your passport and proof that youve completed the 1hr video to DLT. They will process the paperwork, send you upstairs to do your physical and then back down to take a Pic and hand you the license.

I didn't have an IDP when I converted mine in Pranburi DLT and it was fine. License was in English, other languages may not work but they seemed fine with it at that office.

Going to need a residence certificate, at least Two Passport photos and copies of your Passport and Visa page and IDP and Full Driving Licence

Good luck getting a iDP nobody wants too do them post office in England do not do them any more and you go too shop that do pay point and they look at you as if your an idiot have given up trying too get a IDP

Bring your home license and the IDP issued by the relevant authority in your home country. Take them to a DLT office along with a residence certificate from your local immigration office in Thailand and a medical certificate from any medical clinic, your passport and a copy of the data and entry stamp pages and apply. Watch a video, answer a few simple questions, do reaction, colour blind and peripheral vision tests and your good to go
