Just curios. You need to show 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account but you can’t open a thai bank account before you have a long term visa ..

How do people come around this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To show the required 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account for visa purposes, one typically needs a long-term visa. Previously, it was possible to open a bank account on a visa-exempt entry, but banks have since tightened their policies. The recommended approach is to apply for a Non-O visa before arriving in Thailand or to apply for it at a Thai consulate in a nearby country if you are already in Thailand. With a 90-day Non-O visa, most banks will allow you to open an account.

Before the banks tightened up and stopped people on free stamp (visa exempt) entries from opening bank accounts you could come here and open an account then apply for the visa in country

Nowadays we recommend getting the Non-O visa in your country before you come here, (or if you're already here go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and apply for the Non-O visa there)

Once you have a 90 day Non-O visa most banks will let you open an account

I wrote a post about it here;
