TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of transferring 800,000 baht from KB Bank back to the US if an emergency arises. The comments indicate that yes, it is possible to transfer the money, but it may incur fees and affect future visa extensions if the funds are withdrawn before a mandatory period. Specific recommendations emphasize checking immigration requirements and understanding the implications on visa status.

If you mean to remove, means you want to leave. So, just withdraw it and leave

Instead to correct name of bank, give the advice he is asking for,.

Yeah there are fees going in and out. each time you move it across the Pacific you pay.

Yes you can but you Get hammered in the exchange..

Yes

You can take it out at any time- but this would interfere with your next visa.

It's your money. You can do whatever you want with it. Just know that it will effect your next extension if you fail to meet immigration's requirements.

You are free to soend it after 3 months but next check with imivration to show bank acvount you will have a problem

What is KB?

It was a popular beer in Australia back in the 70's and 80's. God only knows why. It's probably the worst beer I ever tasted in my life - actually no, second worst - nothing beats Chang for bad beer 😆

@Steve *******
I dont recall it being popular. I would put it in the same class as Reschs Swan Emu and Southwalk. Utter bilge water.

@Eric **********
Popular in Sydney as takeaway, don't ever recall it being on tap. You're right about Reschs. That was foul stuff. Unfortunately NSW couldn't make a decent beer.

Yeh I was going to say toilet water tastes better

@Phil *****
I'll take your word on that one - I've never drank toilet water 😆

you really couldn't work it out from KB or were you just being pedantic?

In all my years in Thailand I've literally never heard or seen ANYONE put KB for Kasikorn Bank. How am I supposed to know it's Kasikorn Bank? Why not Krungthai Bank? Why not Krungsri Bank? Maybe there is some kind of account or investment firm with the name or initials of KB. So No, I am not going to "guess" what KB means when it comes to immigration.

No. The government will want to see that it is there for an extended period of time. Once there it should stay there unless you can demonstrate monthly 65k baht per month deposits, all at the same time of the month, there are set dates it must be deposited by, from some type of retirement place like Social Security or pension for 12 months continuously and things are continued perennially. There is a way, I believe, to leave $400k baht and have a lesser monthly amount I believe but I do not know the formula. It is on the Thai via website

You can try the shell game of removing the money, 800k, and putting it back in 90 days before renewal but it is risky with the way things are tightening up here.

The best thing to do is put the baht in the Thai bank and just leave it. If you want you can transition to another type of visa.

I started with non o, the got married to a Thai woman and shifted to a marriage visa which required 400k baht in the bank. Then divorced and back to non o retirement visa, 800k baht in bank.

Now have a Long Term Resident Visa. No money in bank required but other stiffer financial requirements. This one costs more up front but has many other benefits, including multiple entry built in and no tax on remitted funds.

So, after a long winded response, put the money in the bank and leave it. That will save stress and headaches

So

Thank for the information from actual experience. I had been told otherwise. Very helpful

65k per month is one per calendar month - time of month irrelevant. I've made transfers as early as the 1st and as late as the 23 - makes no difference provided it's within the calendar month

literally no one calls it KB. It's Kbank for short. So yes, seriously.
Nick *******
@Brandon ***********
No, KB can also mean K.Bank that's why it's KB also.

@Nick ******
There are FOUR banks in Thailand that start with the letter K. Why does KB mean Kasikorn?
