Did my 90 day report today (online attempts unsuccessful), so my next one is due on 15 September. My extension expires 28 October. Noticing this, the IO says, “You can do your next 90 day report when you extend your visa”, or words to that effect. Is this actually the case?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster did a 90-day report and encountered issues with online submissions. An immigration officer suggested that the next 90-day report could be done concurrently with a visa extension. However, community feedback indicates that this advice may not be correct, as the 90-day report should be done regularly every 90 days to avoid fines.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

My opinion: the immigration office's advice was not correct. You should do your next 90 day report in 90 days. It is true you *CAN* extend it when you get your extension of stay, but you will be late and fined 2K THB.
