DTV application through Dubai using UK financial evidence

I am applying for the DTV (12 month cookery course) through the Dubai consulate.

I am a British passport holder and have a valid EID. I have never opened a UAE bank account in the 12 months I have been here.

I submitted UK bank statements showing 500,000 THB equivalent for over 3 months but I got a request for additional documents saying that only UAE bank statements are accepted.

Has anyone else been in this situation or have any suggestions?

Has anyone been successful in applying through UAE supported by UK financial documents?
