TLDR : Answer Summary
Foreigners (farongs) cannot open a bank account in Thailand over the internet or phone; it must be done in person. Additionally, a long-term visa is required to open an account. The process can take a couple of hours and it's advisable to get assistance with translation if needed.
In person, I'm told it can take a couple of hours, would advise someone to help translate if not fluent in Thai to prevent issues, make sure the mobile number you register is in YOUR name

You have to do it in country and you’ll need a long stay visa not a tourist visa

You may not get to open account even in person without the correct entry visa/requirements,Online,no way....

Thai banks only open accounts if you have a long term visa and that you have to do in person if you qualify.

I want an account for multiple reasons. I have very long term relationship but not married. About 14 years involve money and trust is there. I may just continue to proceed as before.
so you have requirements to have cash in bank to qualify for long term visa but can't gat an account until you have long term visa. Is there a shorter term that qualifies?
With the clamp down on mule accounts the banks dont open any accounts for anyone that has less than a 12 month visa. Even DTV visa holders are not able to open bank accounts.
