What visa should I apply for to stay 6 months in Phuket and 6 months in Chiang Mai?
I am planning to stay 6 months in Phuket and 6 months in Chiang Mai, what visa would be suitable for me? As I understand for ED visa, you have to extend your visa at the same immigration office as the visa was issued.
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on suitable visa options for a year-long stay in Thailand, splitting time between Phuket and Chiang Mai. There are mentions of the STV visa, which offers 270 days but cannot be converted to other visa types, and the ED visa, which requires extensions at the original immigration office. The response emphasizes that the best visa option depends on the user's specific circumstances, like marital status or age.

STV gives you 270 days, can't be switched to another visa, has onerous requirements, 90 days plus 2 90 day extensions, must be obtained in your home country.
