Hello all,

I am from the United States and interested in making the move to Thailand after several visits.

I am retired and receiving a pension but I am younger than 50.

Which visa should I look into applying for?

Please and thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American retiree under 50 looking to move to Thailand has limited visa options. The Elite Visa is suggested due to its long-term benefits, while the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) is a more economical alternative. Comments also mention the Thai Privilege Visa as a suitable choice until the person reaches 50.

Elite visa for you or if you want to be a tight ass like most of us you can get the cheap ass alternative called the DTV

There's not many options for you. The Thai Privilege visa is probably the best fit until you hit 50

How old? DTV might serve you well for the next 5 years.

I'm 45, can the DTV be applied for in Thailand or online or must I apply in USA?

you can apply almost anywhere except in Thailand. Suggest you apply in the States before you make your way here. Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) read through posts in that group for requirements and entry scheme.

you don't have to apply in the USA, but you CAN'T apply for it in Thailand. Vietnam is a good option if you're in Southeast Asia as both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh embassies have good results (typically 5 business days)
