I stayed in BKK for 5 days on January 2, then I came again on January 30 and stayed for another 6 days. Today, when I entered again, they stamped a 60-day visa in my passport. To those friends who are sharing photos and saying that you can only enter twice a year here

please don’t spread false information
Answer summary
The post discusses experiences with Thailand's visa policies, particularly regarding the number of entries and allowed days of stay. The author emphasizes that misinformation about limited entries is widespread, sharing that they recently received a 60-day visa stamp despite prior visits. Commenters elaborate on the importance of stay duration over entry frequency, noting that visitors can enter multiple times for short stays but may face scrutiny if they establish a pattern of frequent long stays. Discussions reflect concerns about potential changes in visa rules and their impact on tourism.

Even those who do a full 60 days (at least three times in a row) without getting extensions are denied. However, one can come in as many times as long as they do short-stays. In fact, if he does this again, he may be denied as he will have developed a pattern.

Either come in multiple times on short-stays within Thailand and longer stays outside or get a proper visa.

Lavender Smiles You've really made it up.

Ozan Kural You may think so but I wouldn’t have replied if I didn’t know people who have been denied on this very basis. Just because it has worked for you three times, it doesn’t mean a different IO won’t frown at the pattern next time lol

Lavender Smiles A tourist pattern will not get him denied entry

Graham Seal At least I’m speaking from experience as I know two people who have been denied despite having no overstays and no extensions. It all comes down to the IO.

You can stay max 157 days in a year. Unless you have long stay visa

Most people in this group said four months ago that there would only be two logins allowed in the new year.

Ozan Kural Wrong. You can enter many times but tot exceed 157 days total during one year. The problem was with people rentering for 60 days each time, applying for extension of 30 days. Now you can enter one time for 60 days and receive 30 days extension. The second time you will receive 60 days and can apply for another 7 days only. 90+60+7=157

They didn't say that; they said it was forbidden after entering twice.

It's reassuring to know that one still gets 60 days. If they change it to 30 days I do hope they will give a decent notice, like a 30 day notice..

I think you got a free entry stamp, not a visa.

It's not about the number of times you enter, it's about the number of days.

The 2 entries is the people who do a full 60 days, get the 30 day extension, then leave and repeat.

Those people are unlikely to get more than 2 entries.

And even that is being looked at Brandon,as the Thai Tourist Authority have mentioned to the Thai government. Tourism and it's income is so vital to Thailand's economy, feedback has suggested even more relaxation of the rules. Too many people opting for the less bureaucratic states of Vietnam,Laos, Cambodia, and the Philippines. All which are generally cheaper!

Agreed. I’m currently in Vietnam. Last time I went through the checkpoint at BKK , I was scolded by an immigration officer for not having a “proper” visa. The supervisor was much kinder than his female colleague and allowed me to enter. I’ve never had a problem before , never overstayed and obeyed all the rules. I’m no mercenary , call center scammer and definitely don’t work in Thailand. I’m a tourist escaping the cold winters.

It’s a shame that Thailand is experiencing a decline in tourism but it’s easy to see why it’s happening.

So much for the land of smiles .

Good morning Vietnam 🇻🇳

there's zero talk of relaxation of the rules. They're talking about reducing the days tourists get on visa exempt. That's the opposite of relaxing the rules

Don't entirely agree with you there, but I guess only time will tell! When they start to lose income it will concentrate their minds; though that's happening already! The country needs to practice democracy and accounting a bit more. I love the country and it's people, was married to a Thai lady for 10 years, and have a beautiful mixed race daughter! Maybe that's what I care so much! Inshallah 🙏.
