Hi guys I have a question…

I was trying to port my current number to Google Voice but it says I can’t use my number. Has anyone else ran into this problem? If so did they say why you couldn’t port your number? Is there an alternative? My phone is unlocked. HELP Thanks in advance!

Answer summary

The user is experiencing issues porting their phone number to Google Voice and is seeking help. The comments suggest that the porting issue could be due to needing to set up inside the US or the current mobile service provider. Several alternatives are offered, including porting to Tello for two-factor authentication needs and using AIS for a local Thai number with a dual SIM set up. Users recommend providing more details about the current service provider to receive tailored advice.

I ported mine to Tello for 2FA about $8 USD per month. Use AIS for a local Thai number on my phone w/ a dual sim and only allow the tello to be used when on WiFi or data from my AIS line.

Consider porting out to UltraMobile PAYG. Which service provider do you currently use?

There's many reasons why it might not work, with the limited info you provided impossible to say.
