The Maisai border remains open on Christmas Day as it is a normal operating day in Thailand, where Christmas is not an official holiday. While some tourists and expats may celebrate, Thai businesses like borders, airports, and banks operate as usual without changes in their schedule for the holiday.

I guess it is more than clear than Christmas has nothing to do with Thailand. That some tourist and expats like to party and have dinners on that day, fine, the Thai are not afraid to offer parties and extra dinners for a few more Thai Baht. Borders, airports, hotels, banks etc are open as normal. It does not make sense to keep this topic open to find out who is going to party or to express your holiday wishes. You can do that in other ways.

In fact. Instead of going all the way to maisai border and back, can't I just go to Chiang mai immigration and pay 1900 baht for another 30 day visa exempt?

30 day extension of stay after my 30 day visa exempt is what I meant for 1900 baht?

What you mean with another 30 day visa exempt for 1.900 Thb? At Immigration Office you apply for a 30 day Extension of Stay on your Visa Exempt entry or on your Tourist Visa. You can only do this once on each entry.

That's because it is a tourist thing but Christmas is not an official holiday
