UK - if you Visa gets rejected is it worth applying again? They don’t tell you why and as far as I’m aware it’s impossible to find out. Applied 16th October rejection today, didn’t ask for extra documents or anything just straight rejection. My applications soft power Muay Thai. Anyway. I can’t figure out if I wanna spend another £300 to be told no again but with no reason why.

Anyone had a similar experience?

Ever had a response from visa office? FYI I have sent 2 separate emails and messages Facebook page, clearly don’t think I’ll get a response 🤷🏻‍♀️
Answer summary
The post discusses a recent visa rejection experience faced by a UK citizen applying for a Thai visa, specifically the DTV Soft Power Visa related to Muay Thai. The poster expresses concerns about the lack of feedback from the embassy regarding the rejection, making them hesitant to reapply. Several comments share similar experiences and insights into the visa application process, including alternative visa types, particularly highlighting the difficult approval rates for the DTV Soft Power Visa, and offering suggestions like applying for the METV instead.

By the way, there is the DTV Soft Power Visa and the DTV Digital Nomad Visa. From what I read regarding the requirements/ difference for these two 5 yr DTV visa, is that for the Soft Power visa application, you are not supposed to be employed, the visa is meant for you to study, learn Thai Culture and live in Thailand.

Whereas for the DTV Digital Nomad visa, you need to have employment and your overseas employer's details to ascertain your work allows you to work remotely while living in Thailand.

I think that’s what I did wrong without realising because I’m still working until 25th November. I was going soft power but ticked employed and my salary. A day or so after I submitted it I thought oh dear o shouldn’t have done that, I think that was my rejection

I initially too planned to apply for the DTV Soft Power 5 yr visa from The Thai Embassy in Singapore. I was in Chiang Mai 3 weeks ago and personally went to the SLC language school to inquire about the application process of this DTV soft power Visa. Unfortunately , the service rep there told me that for the past 6 years, the school has received 0 success rate for all the dtv soft power 5 years visa applications from Singapore. Even for the ED visa applications from Singapore, most applications were rejected by the Thai Embassy there. She added the school had a high success rate for only the ED visa applications (not DTV) from the UK, Australia, Canada and LAOS.

She said nowadays the Thai Embassy (especially the one based in Singapore) does not want to grant a 5 year Thailand visa to the foreign applicants when the courses they take only last 9 months or less. They can just apply for the ED visa instead for such short courses.

She added if my application for the dtv soft power visa from Singapore gets approved, then I'll make history and will be the first successful Singapore applicant for their Language Culture School!😂

It was disheartening

for me to hear that. But I'm grateful she was honest with me so I won't waste my time and $ on that 5 year visa application.

There could be genuine reasons for rejection, which the Embassy are under no obligation to disclose.! As long as you were rejected and not cancelled or converted to either METV or ED visa, there indeed are !

CopperSloth2786 How much $$ did you show them you have?

Was it in a checking or savings account? Or did you show them something like Wise or Revolut?

How many months bank statements did you send?

In the end, I think they are really reluctant to approve soft power these days, which sucks because they say its a possibility but then won't give it. Its like they are just stealing peoples money

We understand your hesitation about paying another application fee without knowing what went wrong.

At Phuket Muay Thai, we’ve had customers who received clarification after **politely and respectfully** asking the embassy about their rejection. We appreciate you’ve already emailed them, but wording we’ve found helpful is: “We understand the decision, but would appreciate any guidance on what was missing or unsuitable so we can avoid making the same mistake when reapplying.” A response isn’t guaranteed, but some of our applicants have received useful guidance this way.

Before paying again, carefully review the entire application, including your supporting documents, financial evidence, and whether all the information is consistent. **Check that your funds are sufficient at the current exchange rate, too.** If your balance is in pounds, exchange-rate changes could affect its Thai baht equivalent, so leaving a comfortable margin is sensible.

We know agents aren’t always popular in these forums, but having a reputable agent review the rejected application can sometimes help identify an issue you’ve overlooked. That’s an additional expense, of course, so it’s something to weigh against submitting again without understanding the problem.

We’ve had many applicants approved on their second application after resolving the original issue. A rejection doesn’t necessarily mean a second application will fail—the important thing is identifying and addressing what went wrong before resubmitting.

thank you, I have sent a very respectful email asking if they could in any way clarify the reason for rejection. I’m hoping to get a response but I am aware that they don’t usually respond.

I have identified 2 minor discrepancies in my first application, I assume they were the issue for the visa people. I have fixed these and compacted another application, not applied yet.

Thank you ☺️

CopperSloth2786 I would expect your answer to this question why you don't want to go to another country, because Thailand is the place to be when you want to do Muay Thai training, but maybe some others and also the embassy are right you only want to live in Thailand.

With an Elite/Privilege visa you wont get all that requirements, so might be easier.

It is NOT the western entitlement attitude of assuming just because you think you’ll be approved you will be approved, it is more just not knowing what a visa means and how approval processes work.

I have seen much Schengen visa for EU also rejected while applicants think they satisfy al requirements.

You not have a right to GET a visa when you comply with all published requirements, you are only eligible to APPLY when you comply with all requirements, and still can be rejected.

That is not only in Thailand, but in almost all countries.

BoldPelican295 please post a source that clearly shows they are not rejecting any visas that fulfill all the requirements.

BoldPelican295 "trust me bro" was no part of anything I have written. Simple observation based on testimony provided by strong numbers of people who have had the exact experience that I am discussing. Systematic denial of the soft power application!

The only stupid person in the room would be yourself for resorting to making such stupid comments. Quite childish and shows a serious lack of intellect or intelligence.

Obviously there is a point in keeping the thread going as you continue to engage, which you chose to do so from the onset and nobody asked for. If you truly thought there was no point in continuing this part of the conversation, then clearly you would not be continuing it. But there you are.

I understand your ego won't allow you to admit any wrongdoing, but you should make sure that you're not making stupid comments before calling somebody else stupid.

SugarFreeTruth2026 Thanks for sharing your opinion but it's not a fact.

BoldPelican295 no, wrong again. You are the one that challenged my post but didn't offer anything to back up your claim.

The evidence is simply observation that it is clear they are declining a substantial number of soft power DTV applications, even when it appears the applicants have met the criteria or at least think they have. It has become a pattern as a large number of folks who have applied and got denied have reported themselves through this forum and many other online.

No there has not been any formal statement from Thai immigration stating that they are phasing out the soft power segment, however their actions and substantially large numbers of denials certainly show the developing pattern that would make it clear they are leaning in that direction.

It makes perfect sense, as the whole soft power part of the DTV never made sense from the beginning. The recent wave of mass denials and heightened scrutinization of the soft power DTV,shows by their the own actions they are likely to do away with the soft power option.

Starting to believe that you may be a denied soft power applicant or a current soft power DTV holder.

I was just watching a video about this topic online. Apparently many applying for retirement visa are having similar issues. This is just what i am seeing in some expat videos and podcasts. We are coming for 30 days in December. Then move on to another destination. Thailand just seems to be to much of a pain in the A$$.
BoldPel*******

SugarFreeTruth2026 i was the one asking you a question first. And you were unable to answer that, so you try to shift the burden of evidence on me. You’re making a statement saying they are phasing out soft power dtv. You’re asked to state your source, and you’re reply is: “post a source saying they’re not”

So you’re the one incapable of answering the question, as expected. Because you have no source, nor any evidence supporting your claim

BoldPelican295 I would not be too sure about that.

Every country tries to process visa the way they get only persons they want to have in their country.

That is not just checking for the requirements, therfore you don't need people to check, that could be done by computer.

So it could be perfectly possible they now reject more softpower application, but we just don't know.

Hard to tell, people used to apply to a different embassy in the past (following a rejection). Historically, the UK embassy is one of the friendliest and they did tend to respond. Maybe you get lucky and they tell you why.

What was the length of the course? And have you met all other requirements?
