Is it too early to apply for a Thai visa 6 months in advance of my trip?

I have my flight booked and am planning on visiting end of October, would it be too far in advance to apply NOW, 6 months ahead of time? Will be applying via Soft power/Muay Thai at the NY Embassy. (Only have done some cursory skimming but looks like most people get their applications in only a few *weeks* in advance of departure?) I'd just like the peace of mind having it locked in before any potential negative changes to the program...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to apply for a Thai visa via the Soft Power/Muay Thai route at the New York Embassy, ahead of their trip in October. They are concerned about applying 6 months in advance and seek reassurance, noting that others typically apply only a few weeks prior to departure. A comment suggests applying no sooner than 3 months before arrival.

If I'm not mistaken, applications should be done no sooner than 3 months before your scheduled arrival.
