I have a question about the new THIM app. I created my profile but had to stop briefly before I could scan the NFC tag. The profile was saved. When I open the app later a notification appears that NFC verification is still pending. But... where do I start the NFC scan? I can't find a button for it anywhere.

Just activate your phone's NFC and hold it against the passport. No button required when I did it.

I only photographed the passport and skipped the scan, which never opened. All done and confirmed. Easy.

NFC tag scan? I can't remember doing that? I scanned my photo page with the camera on my phone, it worked well and entered my details easily and quickly.

There is an option to delete the profile in the app. I would do that and start again. The visual passport scan worked fine for me.
