How can I reduce a 4.9MB PDF to under 3MB for my Muay Thai education certificate upload?

How do you get around the 3MB upload limit?

I’m trying to upload an education certificate from my Muay Thai gym, which came as two PDFs. The system only allows a single PDF, so I combined them—but now the file is 4.9MB, which is over the limit.

I’ve tried compressing it in Canva, but the quality becomes too low to read. I also tried exporting the pages as images and resizing, but I’m still struggling to get it under 3MB.

It’s a 10-page document.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing a 4.9MB file size issue when combining two PDFs of an education certificate from their Muay Thai gym, exceeding the 3MB upload limit. Multiple community members suggest various solutions for compressing the PDF, including using online tools like ilovepdf.com, tinypng for images, or even taking screenshots and creating a new PDF. Other creative methods include printing out the document and photographing the pages to create a new, smaller PDF.

I use IlovePDF to compress my whole passport pages into less than 3mb. Without compromise on the quality.

Ask your PDF providers to simply sent "screenshots" of each page. Then combine them.

A 10 page PDF that big makes no sense, unless it is a nested mess of nested PDFs.

Seriously, if one makes a PDF with a text editor, how can 10 pages be 3MB or more?

OHHHH ... I have an idea: just print it out!! Then photo each page and make a new PDF from it.

Currently using Claude code to resize the images. I don't think standard compression software is going to work but I think I'll solve the problem. It's just painful.

just tried it and on recommended compression nothing changed and on high compression also did not compress. I think the current PDF is already compressed
