TLDR : Answer Summary
Many users shared their methods for compressing document sizes under 3 MB for visa-related submissions. Suggestions included using software like iLovePDF for file compression, adjusting image sizes and formats, and merging multiple documents effectively. Users noted that converting images to JPEG format and ensuring images are not too large helped significantly. Mac users mentioned specific ways to reduce file size directly on their devices, while online tools and AI-assistant options were highlighted as alternatives for Windows users. Combining passport pages onto one page was also recommended to reduce the overall number of pages.

I had the same issue and all the online compression tools failed below 4 MB, then I remembered it’s 2025 and there is AI… just ask Claude or another AI assistant of your choice to do it, it worked for me.

One helpful tip that will save you so much space - include passport pages in proof of location upload

I had a similar issue and it was because the images in the PDF were not jpegs, so if you can check the individual images and if any are larger than 150kb and not jpegs try to convert them to jpegs with lower resolution (around 100-150kb per image worked for me).

If you have Mac book you select each document individually and lower the size by selecting info after you right click. It’ll let you adjust the size there. After that select all the documents you want as one and combine. Then you can redo the order the documents in “view” which is another option after you right click. After that right click and turn into pdf.

I don’t have window computer so don’t know the method for that but it took me trail and tribulations to solve that out because I did not want to pay for anything or download weird third party apps. I’m sure there’s a free way to do it on windows with ta similar method

You can combine multiple passport pages on one page

This should help reduce the number of overall pages to get the size down.

200dpi resolution should also be enough to keep them legible.
