* Please delete if not allowed * 😊 slightly off topic, but my main goal is to go via the DTV digital nomad route to stay in Thailand and I realise a lot of you do exactly that , so are likely the perfect people to ask. 💖

I'm trying to find a (globally remote) digital nomad role, and I'm wondering how you all found yours. I'm 33, female, educated with a Bachelor's degree in English and 4 A levels, UK citizen. I have 10 years experience working for the UK's National Health Service (working in legislation, writing manuals).

To be honest I'd be happy with any entry level job and would work my way up, but I've been applying for 4 months straight to no avail, it seems 3000 people are going for 1 position on the websites I've been using to apply, I feel like I'm getting nowhere. I have some marketing experience, lots of writing/grammar/article/websites/technical/PC/quality checking/editing experience. Also have experience with digital marketing and social media posting/editing. I'm such a fast learner and good worker but the positions I'm finding have literally thousands of other applicants.

How did you all find your remote jobs to be able to work from Thailand and apply for this visa?

Thanks in advance guys!

Why would you want a Job who could easily fire you and you would be back to square one again?

I’ve been self employed the last 14 years and make all my money online.

I offer different products and services to my audience.

Gets to travel around the world. For as long as I want.

Make my own income. And I’m very happy.

With all the qualifications you mentioned - You could easily just generate your own income without needing to rely on a Job.

I think most people on DTV have their own businesses.

It’s a struggle i tell you even with good credentials. There are a lot of big companies here but most of them hire from overseas and bring people here. Bangkok is a great place to start a business but is really not a good place to come here and find a job.

But for the DTV visa, i suggest you go for a “soft power” activity like learn muay thai. They have a package for about 9 mos and you get to have a 5yr DTV visa along with it.

I started my own business. I still look for work but it’s promotion not employment.

Sadly less and less companies are hiring for remote roles these days so when there is an position there are crazy amount of applicants.

Try weworkremotely.com but I've been seeing a lot less roles on there as well.

Could check out Upwork as well. We hire temp staff through there and have offered several full time roles when they are good.

AI takeover mate, feeling the pressure. Anything entry level digital can be made by automated systems. Kind of tricky your question.. anyway good luck.

Rick Merrick lots of jobs out there if you're willing to look. If AI is taking over (I agree), then go there. If you can't beat em, join em. AI model training and data annotation. Been working well for me for a few months now 😊

Try for some AI data annotation companies. They take all skills, and especially looking for English expert writers. There's also generalist positions, but sounds like you'd qualify for some specific niche positions. Check LinkedIn and other job boards.

Not necessarily the best to rely on long-term but a decent idea to "bridge the gap" between nothingness and something with more stability.

Start a YouTube Channel ?

Perhaps base it on what you are experiencing

Possibly the main pitfall for getting a DTV is having

500,000 K baht equivalent in a bank

There is a few FB groups

Specifically looking for employment - Expat jobs in Thailand

Foreigners looking for work in Thailand

That may have some

Angles

There are

Also FB groups for teachers

Sticking with what you know is probably a good move. Technical writing skills should be pretty transferable so look for jobs in that field, not necessarily medical. Could be equipment manufacturers, software companies, whatever but it is more of a gig situation than a full time employment situation. You just need to get out there and find the work.
