Why do expats prefer international resources over local Thai agents for assistance?

I have a philosophical question.

I am an agent, and I am also speaking on behalf of my Thai colleagues who have been working in this field for many years.

You are happy to come and live in Thailand, but why are you reluctant to give work to local Thai agents, even before you arrive?

Why do many people prefer to spend their money on Google, Claude, or ChatGPT rather than supporting local professionals and agents in Thailand?

Is this simply a matter of convenience, trust, cost, technology, or is there a deeper philosophical reason behind it?
Summary so far
The post raises a philosophical question regarding the reluctance of expats in Thailand to engage local Thai agents for assistance, despite their willingness to live in Thailand. It questions whether the preference for international resources like Google or ChatGPT over local professionals is driven by convenience, trust, cost, technology, or deeper philosophical reasons. The comments primarily diverge into practical discussions regarding immigration processes and TM30 registration, indicating a shift from the original philosophical question.

howlong it takes at the Immigration depends on WHICH Immigration office of 85 offices in Thailand you are visiting. On My Immigration I never wait any longer than 10 minutes, regardless on what time during the day I enter

Greg Alexander which immigration you go to I’m planning to go to immigration division 1 in bangok

Emna Majdoub you have to use the Immigration which services the location where you live and where you are TM30 registered

Emna Majdoub The primary immigration office serving residents of the Huai Khwang district is Immigration Division 1, located at the Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King (Chaengwattana). This facility handles standard visa extensions, re-entry permits, and 90-day reporting for most regular expats living in Bangkok

you can only use the immigration office that serves the area where you live and where your registered as living on a TM30

Emna Majdoub . . a single entry VISA usually has a "validity" of 3 months, within this period you must enter Thailand. The VISA will become invalid when you enter. You will be stamped a STAY PERMIT. . . . You should not confuse the duration of the visa validity with the duration of the stay permit - these are two completely different dates

Greg Alexander I got my TM30 from my landlord about two weeks ago. I’m planning to apply for a re-entry permit next week. Do you know if the TM30 needs to be recent, or is the one from two weeks ago still okay?

Emna Majdoub if you buy the re-entry permit on your Immigration, you need to be properly TM30 registered, or Immigration will not service you. It does not matter how old the TM30 is, it just must be your actual accomodation . . . If you buy the re-entry permit at an international Thai airport, you do NOT need to show a TM30 registration

You go by the stamp in your passport, your visa is used and no longer relevant. The process at immigration offices is not the same as at the airport, you need to fill out the form TM8 requesting a re-entry permit and provide a passport sized photo which gets attached to the form

Your eVisa is finished as you used it to enter the country. The stamp in your passport has your permitted to stay date, this is all that matters now.

Personally I like going in the afternoon around 1500 or so

This is Bangkok so at 1500 it’s way less people

Each immigration office differs
