What is the experience like arriving at Samui Airport (USM) on a SETV?

Hi all.

I can't find any reports of people's experience arriving into Samui Airport (USM) on SETV. I'm wondering if this is because you have to go through immigration in Bangkok? Or whether it's just a hassle free airport?

I'm planning to fly from London to Samui on Thai Airways, and while there's a connecting flight it seems unlikely that I'd have to exit and re enter as there isn't enough time.

Anyone have any reports on USM, good or bad?

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers arriving at Samui Airport (USM) on a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) typically go through immigration in Bangkok before taking their domestic flight to Samui. There is a special transfer desk for this process. Reports indicate that the experience is generally hassle-free, with most travelers sharing positive experiences, especially given the significant number of tourists arriving in Thailand each year.

As Robert says, you will go through immigration at the special transfer immigration desk at Bangkok airport. Follow the CIQ signs. You then arrive on Samui on a domestic flight but your luggage will be directed to the 'international baggage claim' and you go through customs there.

Normally people on connecting flights pass a smaller Immigration check point in Bangkok just before they can board their national flight. About 35 million tourist enter Thailand on a yearly basis, a handful of them make a report on this page. I would say the majority will say all good, a few who used the Visa Exempt Entry, Tourist Visa and Extensions of Stay till the max will say, it is all bad.
