It's my turn to say that my DTV has been approved. I applied as a digital worker applicant and I applied at the Lisbon Embassy. Eighteen days for approval but I pushed the situation because everything happens slowly in Portugal, even if it's not Portuguese. 😌 Here's the details:
Sept 17 6pm applied
Sept 29 9pm I emailed asking for status update
Sept 29 12am embassy emailed for a longer job description
Sept 30 2am emailed supporting documents
Oct 4 9:30 am I emailed to confirm they got my documents
Oct 5th 4:30pm email with approved visa
I have been on an expired PT residency visa for almost a year and after waiting more than a year for a renewal appt. I attended that appt and was told it would be another 6 months for an answer if approved and my card. That is a 1.5 year wait for a 3 yr residency card and in 17-18 days I got a 5 yr Thai visa! For all those people in the EU that says you have to be patient with EU bureaucratic systems take a look at efficiency of other countries immigration. The info I needed for my PT renewal appt was the EXACT same documents I needed for the DTV as well. I'm super excited!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their recent success in obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) from the Lisbon Embassy, detailing the timeline of their application process that took place over 18 days. They express relief over the swift approval contrasted with their prolonged wait for a Portuguese residency visa. The post highlights the efficiency of Thailand's immigration process compared to the EU's bureaucracy, and it also mentions discrepancies regarding the nature of the DTV as not being a residency permit, noting some limitations of the visa.
