The flight you add in your application is your tentative or proposed travel. But there's no requirement to actually take that flight. Once you get the DTV you'll have 5 years to enter Thailand.

I just did this and was wondered the same thing... I took a chance and I searched a flight with chat gpt and copied the flight number without purchasing. Funny story... I'm on that flight! Also I got dtv less then 24h in Canada.
